In honor of Veterans Day, we are recognizing the men and women of The Office of Administration and Planning who have served our country. To the Veterans we work alongside every day, thank you for your service.

A few people from each of A&P's departments have been chosen to represent their team. Below, you can read how they each feel their previous service impacts their current work.

Deputy Chief Dennis Jeffrey (DPS)

Staff Sergeant, United States Army Reserve

“My military experience affects my life today by always remembering to put others before myself. It also helps me to maintain discipline and be goal oriented. I wanted to serve my country and gain experience that would assist me in obtaining my goal of becoming a police officer.”

Sgt. Donald Wallis (DPS)

19D Cavalry Scout, United States Army

“My military service gives me a better understanding of different cultures, beliefs, and the world at large. The military doesn’t place you in a unit based on hobbies or personal beliefs. It throws everyone together and you must figure each other out and learn to get along.”

Nana Amoako (DPS)

E-5 Sergeant, United States Army

“My military experience has exposed me to diverse cultures, travelling around the country and deployment overseas. It has instilled a sense of discipline and the Army values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage which has helped shape me to be the father, husband, brother, friend, and employee I am today.”

Tammi Scott (DPS)

E-4 Specialist, United States Army Reserve

I joined the military to serve my country and to gain exposure to different cultures and people from all over the world.  My experience in the military has made me forever grateful for the freedoms and opportunities we have here in America. It also taught me discipline and patience which have helped me tremendously throughout my life.”

Kelly Bloomfield (FOD)

E-4 Senior Airman, United States Air Force

“The military really showed me the value of teamwork. I had been involved in sports growing up, but the military really taught me the value of working as a team. I have carried that concept throughout my career since leaving the military.”

Marshall King (TTM)

Commissioned O-35 Captain, Military Police, United States Army Reserve

E-4 Machinist Mate 3rd Class, United States Navy

“The military enhanced teamwork and leadership skills and the ability to respond well in emergency situations. And modesty, of course.”

Kareem King (TTM)

E-3, United States Navy

“In addition to how my parents raised me, my military experience has helped instill in me the drive to keep striving for things in my life. For example, I will be graduating from Ohio State after the spring semester with my undergrad in social work with a minor in substance abuse. I am not a traditional student. I work full time and go to school full time. I am a husband, parent, grandfather, brother, friend and uncle. I wear so many hats in my life. I am so blessed, grateful and thankful.”

Jeff Dible (UniPrint)

Sergeant, 82nd Airborne Division, United States Army

“The military taught me invaluable life-lessons about leadership, teamwork and working with individuals completely different than yourself."

Darrin McDonald (WOSU)

E-4, United States Army, Ohio National Guard, Individual Ready Reserve

“The one thing military service does is build confidence. Regardless of who you are, life is filled with obstacles. In the Army, you are taught that obstacles are there to be overtaken. You learn to go around, over, under, and in rare cases…through them. That is probably the best lesson I learned from my military experience.”
