A&P Diversity Council - Catherine Black
Facilities Operations and Development, Environmental Health and Safety - Environmental Safety Officer
My main objective and concern are the safety and well-being of the Ohio State community, with duties that include indoor air quality, ergonomics assessments, potable water sampling, mechanical shop inspection, fume hood certification on regional campus, safety training, and the PERRP (OSHA) 300 logs covering employee accident investigations. I rotate with the staff on emergency response throughout the year, am on the OSHA Safety Day committee, and am trained in asbestos sampling. It makes my day when I can help someone.
I’m a Navy Veteran, have a degree in Respiratory Therapy, was a pre-school teacher, and drove a FEDEX truck for 15 years. Before coming to Ohio State, I worked in the Middle East. My greatest joy is my son, who’s graduating high school in 2022. In my off time I love to travel (ask me where I have been!), hanging with my dog, reading, and of course I bleed scarlet and gray!
