Creating and sustaining healthy habits is always easier in a team. The A&P Fiscal Buckeye Wellness Innovators (BWI) Camille Mack, Lindsey McCann, Ted Tobler and Mary Wehner are a prime example of healthy collaboration in action.
Over the last year, the A&P Fiscal BWI's have completed many wellness projects to benefit the community and encourage their colleagues to live healthy lifestyles. They have taken a trip to Wild Goose Creative to experience art, participated in a healthy cooking demo, packed goodie bags to share their #BuckeyeLove and made no-sew blankets to donate to The Ronald McDonald House Charites (RMHC) of Central Ohio.
McCann and Wehner became BWIs for different reasons. McCann wanted to encourage others to seek a healthier lifestyle after making changes in her own life. Wehner wanted to work closely and foster relationships with her co-workers after joining A&P during the pandemic.
For both, however, their favorite part of being a BWI quickly became the collaboration between A&P Fiscal Buckeye Wellness Innovators and other wellness innovators at the university.
Both McCann and Wehner recommend a strong morning routine with movement.
“Start the day with movement – either a workout, walk or stretching,” McCann said. “I also try to schedule at least a 10-15 minute block on my calendar midday to walk or stretch.”
As for wellness opportunities, McCann recommends reaching out to your department’s BWI and seeing how you can get involved. Wehner suggests getting routines started using Virgin Pulse.
“Virgin Pulse is a great jumping off point and investing time in yourself for health and wellness has positive rippling effects that spill over to other areas of your life,” McCann said.
