The Student Life Multicultural Center will present the 38th Annual African American Heritage Festival (AAHF). This legacy event features a week filled with excitement, celebration and education. This year's theme is "Mshikamano," the Swahili word for "Solidarity." With the tagline "Hand in hand, we stand," the festival will focus on solidarity and unity within the African and African American community and will be an integral theme of this week of celebration. Ohio State’s Star House, the nation’s only research-based drop-in center for homeless youth, welcomes Ann Bischoff as its new executive director. In her new role that began Monday (4/4), Bischoff will ensure Star House’s ongoing role of allowing faculty and college students to conduct high-quality research and share best practices for engaging and serving homeless youth. With up to 1,500 vulnerable young people living on the streets in central Ohio, Star House studies and uses proven approaches to reach youth 14 to 24 and connect them with integrated behavioral, social and health care services at one site. Tarunjit Singh Butalia, associate professor of research in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering, has been selected as the 2016 recipient of the Luminosa Award for Unity, an honor presented annually since 1998 by the Focolare Movement Mariapolis Luminosa of North America.
