FOD Supports Heart Walk, Raises Funds

FOD Heart and Sole helped raise more than $8,168 as part of the 2022 American Heart Association Central Ohio Heart Walk. The 38-member team was joined by family and friends to make the walk this past Saturday, August 20 at McFerson Commons in downtown Columbus.

Campus Plogging Opportunities for A&P Staff

"Plogging" is a Swedish term for the simple act of picking up litter while you run, hike, or walk in your community. It started spreading to other countries around the world in 2018, following increased concern about plastic pollution. Teams of five can earn up to 2,500 points during the YP4H challenge which runs from August 1 – 28. There will also be opportunities to earn $25 PulseCash during weekly engagement activities and $10 PulseCash at challenge conclusion.

Heartwarming Inspiration

This year’s American Heart Association Heart Walk has special meaning for Coco Kneisly, administrative manager for Ohio State’s Facilities Operations and Development (FOD). Her father, Dr. Edmund “Ed” Byrne, passed away from congestive heart failure in October 2021.

Building a Fitness Foundation

The majority of Alex Cramer’s workday is spent sitting at her desk. The contracts administrator for Facilities, Design and Construction (FDC) crafts and creates written pledges for various projects on campus.

It’s a similar story throughout her office. Cramer says FDC employees spend a lot of time on the phone and in meetings.

As part of earth month in April and to support Ohio State’s wellness strategic plan, FOD's Mary Leciejewski coordianted with sustainability and Your Plan for Health (YP4H) partners at the university to create a Zero Waste Challenge through YP4H.

Black to the Fitness Basics

Working from home or even committed to a hybrid schedule due to the Coronavirus pandemic may leave some people less inclined to work out.

“It was hard to see what people were doing while in their house,” said Catherine Black, who oversees Environmental Health and Safety’s (EHS) Ergonomics program.

Winning in Wellness

Buckeye Wellness is honoring Coco Kneisly, Facilities Operations and Development (FOD) administrative manager, in its February 2022 Spotlight.

“I was humbled,” Kneisly said. “It was nice to be recognized for the work that we all do as Buckeye Wellness Innovators in FOD.”

Heartfelt Appreciation

As part of the American Heart Association Heart Walk, Ohio State rallied Buckeyes to join Team Ohio State this summer in the fight against this country’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers, heart disease and stroke. 95 teams and 822 walkers participated, raising more than $44,000 toward research to treat and prevent heart disease, heart and strokes and to provide live-saving information to the community.

Wellness is Its Own Reward

Ohio State’s senior vice president of Administration and Planning (A&P) is getting high praise for his commitment to health and wellness. Jay Kasey received the OSU Wellness Executive Leadership Award at the virtual 2021 State of Health and Wellness in Buckeye Nation address.

The event featured updates about wellness efforts, initiatives by Buckeye Wellness Innovators and celebrated Wellness Leadership Award winners.
