Working from home or even committed to a hybrid schedule due to the Coronavirus pandemic may leave some people less inclined to work out.
“It was hard to see what people were doing while in their house,” said Catherine Black, who oversees Environmental Health and Safety’s (EHS) Ergonomics program.
Catherine helps to ensure sufficient solutions for comfort can be implemented to improve the workplace. Working on campus, she says, still presents its challenges.
“It frustrates me,” Black said. “Some people are in so much pain and to see them sitting for long periods...
Buckeye Wellness is honoring Coco Kneisly, Facilities Operations and Development (FOD) administrative manager, in its February 2022 Spotlight .
“I was humbled,” Kneisly said. “It was nice to be recognized for the work that we all do as Buckeye Wellness Innovators in FOD.”
Kneisly has been a Wellness Innovator for nearly a year. Her passion for healthy living started during the department’s SummerFest, when she helped plan health-related activities for the annual staff appreciation event. The health portion was important to Kneisly, who knows firsthand about the physically demanding jobs in FOD.

It takes heart and determination to make a difference so it’s only natural that Ohio State’s Mark Conselyea turned to the American Heart Association when he wanted to find a cause to support.
“It’s a great organization,” Conselyea said. “It’s got a close connection with the Wexner Medical Center and things in which I’m actively involved.”

Kathleen Hall, administrative associate for A&P HR Services, was celebrating around the holidays when she received news that would alter her world forever. Her father, Lawrence Supelak, had passed away at the Wexner Medical Center’s Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital from COVID-19.
“It was very hard, especially at this time and I miss him,” Hall said. “He was in the best caring hands possible.”
Supelak was 76-years-old and grew up in Cleveland. He was a top-notch athlete and had a successful career in aeronautics and defense systems design.
Although it’s been a tough couple of months for...
While COVID-19 has impacted daily routines, Administration and Planning HR Generalist Shannon Rice says she’s found a silver lining during the pandemic.
Rice spends countless nights with little sleep, attending to Anthony, her teething 9-month-old son. Whether it’s changing diapers, getting him a bottle or rocking him back to sleep, parent duties always call. While getting workouts has been challenging, she has found much-needed time for physical fitness during the COVID-19 break.
“He’s sleeping all night, so I can wake up at 4:30 a.m. or 5 a.m. to go out and run,” Rice said.
Home isolation because of the COVID-19 outbreak has been quite an adjustment for Regni Pahouja. The archive data manager with PARE’s Facilities Information and Technology Services group was used to going to her gym – until it was forced to close.
“I really miss that face-to-face conversation,” Pahouja said. “I’m a hugger and a talker, so not seeing these people ever day has been a struggle for me.”
Pahouja says she gained 5 pounds during isolation and was in desperate need of physical activity to stay in shape.
“The first week was okay,” Pahouja said. “But, the...
For Kasey Bingmer, a new decade brings new opportunities both in the office and at home. Recently engaged to her fiancé Kyle, the lease administrator has a lot to look forward to but a lot to balance, too.
“I want to get in better shape for my wedding,” Bingmer said. “I’m tired all of the time and I want to change that and better myself.”
Timing couldn’t be better for Bingmer’s healthy living journey as it coincides with a fitness initiative in the Planning, Architecture and Real Estate (PARE) office. Last year, PARE received a Buckeye Wellness Innovators...
On any given day, you can catch Transportation and Traffic Management bus drivers spending hours driving people around Ohio State’s campus. Earlier this month, a group of drivers took a break from being behind the wheel to focus on their health.
Twenty-two people from TTM and some Administration and Planning staff took part in biometric health screenings in the Printing Facility.
Beth Bogard, assistant to TTM Director Beth Snoke, is a Buckeye wellness innovator. “I’ve always been interested in health and taking care of myself and wanting to encourage others to so the same,” Bogard said. “I am...
