Each year, Ohio State’s President and Provost’s Council on Women recognizes five faculty and staff members of extraordinary achievement, whose work has improved workplace culture for women at the university. Meet this year’s five honorees .
College Choice has named Ohio State one of the Best LGBT Friendly Colleges and Universities, 2016 , ranking 21st with a score of 89.66 out of 100. The rating cited the work of Student Life’s Multicultural Center for LGBTQ initiatives “through student cohort groups, leadership opportunities, educational programs and events” in addition to the gender-inclusive housing options. According to College Choice, “These standout schools are some of the best in the country at committing time and resources to equipping their students, staff, and faculty with tools that encourage education, support, safety, and inclusion campuswide.”

Vanita Reddy will give a talk based on her book Fashioning Diaspora: Beauty, Femininity and South Asian American Culture (Temple University Press, 2016) in the Alonso Family Room. The presentation will highlight how diasporic subjects’ encounters with and material uses of Indian beauty and fashion produce embodiments and social connections that put pressure on neoliberal practices of national and transnational belonging.
